STEP 1

The first step in applying for a BFF grant is to submit a Letter of Interest (LOI) following the guidelines below.  

Please be advised that each year a very limited number of LOIs result in invitations to submit full applications.  These are primarily innovative organizations for which our grants represent a significant contribution.

We do not accept applications from organizations that reserve access to programs based on religion or spiritual faith.

STEP 2

For the 2025 funding cycle, the Foundation will prioritize initiatives responding to our health & wellness mission and addressing the cost of living crisis currently facing low-income and working-class people in the United States.  Areas that may be targeted include access to food and appropriate healthcare.

 

The BFF will consider LOIs from 501(c)3 organizations with an operating budget of under $2 million and a grant proposal up to $15,000. 

A successful proposal is one that demonstrates:

Program development reflecting a knowledge of best practices

 

Commitment to an equitable structure with inclusive leadership and governing board, centered around the community of service

A well-developed approach to impact assessment, consistent with the organization’s purpose

LETTER OF INTEREST GUIDANCE

YOUR LETTER OF INTEREST SHOULD INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

A short executive summary - your organization’s name, your role, the amount requested, and a description of the project, identifying how it aligns with one or more of the Foundation's mission areas.

Organizational description - a brief history of your organization and an overview of your programs. (Suggested maximum length: 500 words.)

Statement of need - identify the need that can be met by your project, with relevant facts and examples, and how you plan to solve the need.

Other major funding sources - being sought or already committed.

A budget - for your proposal.

Your organization's prior year Form 990, or for a newly formed non-profit, an equivalent financial report.
