For over a decade, the High Desert Museum has collaborated with local schools, scientists, artists and community experts to implement Kids Curate. This program provides inspiring arts and science learning experiences to underserved elementary students across Central Oregon, sparking an ongoing interest in learning and helping to reduce the opportunity gap in our region. From field trips to wildlife encounters to in-class visits, Kids Curate expands access to hands-on, transformative learning experiences to increase student engagement with arts and science, advance student achievement across multiple academic disciplines and strengthen student connection to their local community.
This interdisciplinary program encourages students to explore numerous career paths, gain self-confidence and build creative problem-solving skills.
Kids Curate has a robust history of collaboration with the Bloomfield Family Foundation, which has supported inspiring learning experiences for more than 500 students from seven elementary schools across Central Oregon. Multiyear funding has been instrumental in the program’s expansion and long-term sustainability, allowing the Museum to respond to the evolving needs of partner schools and enhance Kids Curate’s impact year after year.
